ICC explains Gbagbo acquittal

Remember, Laurent Gbagbo and Charles Blé Goudé were acquitted by the ICC on January 15th. On July 16, the International Criminal Court justified its decision, thus generating the count for a possible appeal of Fatou Bensouda.

For the ICC, Fatou Bensouda’s accusations are marked by a big gap with reality. The Gambian-born prosecutor has 30 days to appeal, but has requested a deadline until 10 October.

In 2020, Côte d’Ivoire will have a busy political agenda, with the presidential election. As a result, everything that revolves around Laurent Gbagbo is carefully scrutinized. Speculation already state of a possible meeting between Laurent Gbagbo and Henri Konan Bédié. For the moment, the former Ivorian president is still under house arrest in Brussels. ©
