Cameroon and establishment of the CNI: a free number to follow its file
In Cameroon, public complaints are recurrent to denounce delays in the establishment of a National Identity Card.
While this official document is necessary in many ways and the government also encourages people to be in good standing, in fact the situation is different. The time required to obtain the CNI is considered too long. How to cure it ?
The competent administration has its solution: a free number where any citizen having started a file relating to an identity title (CNI, residence permit, etc.) can have informations.
The announcement was made by the DGSN (Genral Direction of National Security headed by Mr. Mbarga Nguele, Ed).
The number in question is the 1550
“We realized that there was a lack of communication, and it was considered useful to inform the users on this issue, but also, to have an interactivity with the applicants of titles. This is quite normal at the moment where, everything is going fast on social networks “, declares on this subject Divisional Commissioner Albert Bernard Djella, head of the CNPTI, the National Center for the production of identity titles, quoted by the daily newspaper national (Cameroon Tribune, Ed.)
It is indeed in the premises of CNPTI in Yaoundé that the new call center is set up to inform the users. Functional since late August, it receives an average of 400 calls per day, from 7:30 to 17h.
Good to know
- Passports are not affected by this call center, as they are considered “travel documents”, not “identity documents.”
- The official cost of a CNI is 2,800 F CFA. Another free number already exists in Cameroon to report abuses committed by officials: the 1500. ©Dzaleu.com
